RESULTS - Beat the Clock Winter 2010 48-Hour

22 Teams ran off into the night on January 22, 2010 to compete in the Winter 48-Hour Film Challenge. At MADCAP Theatres in Tempe, Phoenix Film Foundation Executive Director Jason Carney and Phoenix Film Foundation President Chris LaMont and IFP/PHX Film Challenge Director Todd Anderson sent the 22 teams off with the required line of dialogue: "You look very familiar" the prop: a mop, and the choice of a genre: Slapstick Comedy or Thriller, Romantic Comedy or Action; or Drama or Musical.

At the end of the film screening, Jason Carney and Amanda Melby presented the following winners with certificates.

SPECIALTY AWARD WINNERS:

Best Director – Austin Nordell, “A Night Like Seattle”
Best Overall Technical Elements – “White”, Paul Hoeprich

Best Actress – Daniela Mitchell, “Dirty Love”
Best Actor – James Leatherman, “White”
Best Ensemble Acting – the cast of “<3:A funky fresh Musical (Musical)", Minus Mitchell Films

Best Use of Prop – “M.O.P. An Inter-Galatic Melodramatic Rock Opera (Musical)," Rock Solid Productions
Best Use of Line – “When It Rains”, Kimosabi Productions
Best Use of Genre – “<3:A funky fresh Musical (Musical)", Minus Mitchell Films
Best Score - “A Delicate Balance”, Scott Haskin

*These winners become nominees in the Spring Finals in their respective categories. IFP/PHX members vote on these awards in the Spring.


TOP FIVE FILMS:
5th place: “Annex”, Brothers' Ink
4th place: “White” Catbrain Film Factory
3rd place: “A Night Like Seattle”, D+NA -$50 prize
2nd place: “Dirty Love”, Mambo Grin Films -$75 prize
1st place: “<3: A Funky Fresh Musical”, Minus Mitchell Films -$250 prize and automatic selection to the 2010 Phoenix Film Festival.

These films move into the finals that take place April 12, 2010 at the Phoenix Film Festival.


Audience members were handed a ballot that included all but the Top 5 films. The results were announced at the after-party at Buffalo Wild Wings.
