Subscription to FILMMAKER MAGAZINE

Filmmaker Magazine is an industry insider publication available to paid, current card carrying IFP members. If you are at the filmmaker, student filmmaker, or corporate level you will receive this magazine as a perk of your membership. This is a quarterly publication and will remain available as long as your membership is current.

If you purchased your Issue between:

  • Mar 26 – Jun 25, your first issue of Filmmaker Magazine will arrive Jul 31 (Summer Issue)
  • Jun 26 – Sep 25, your first issue of Filmmaker Magazine will arrive Oct 31 (Fall Issue)
  • Sep 26 – Dec 25, your first issue of Filmmaker Magazine will arrive Jan 31 (Winter Issue)

Voting Privileges in Independent Spirit Awards

The Spirit Awards are owned and run by Film Independent (FIND) in Los Angeles and they give IFP members the privilege to vote.  Every effort is made to get members access to nominated films through screenings, DVDs and online streaming.  Information is sent out to the membership when received from FIND.  Check your e-mail starting in October each year for details or go to Spirit Awards for general information about the awards.


Grant, Funding and Abroad Programs

IFP New York administers grant, funding and abroad programs that are only open to IFP members.  When these opportunities arise, they are published in the PHX monthly e-newsletter and on IFP.org.

Make Your Film

Discounts on Filmmaker Challenges

Members get a discounted rate on all of our Filmmaker Challenges, including the Beat the Clock Challenge, Breakout Filmmaker Challenge, and various other challenges like the Acting, Editing, Cinematography and Screenwriting challenges.  See the application forms for the appropriate fees.  It is generally a $5-$20 savings per competition. 

Discounts on equipment rentals, services, insurance, publications

We seek to partner with Arizona-based and national companies, and through these partnerships we are able to get discounts for our members.  You can find a complete listing of all member discounts under the Members Only section of the website. Discounts are featured in the monthly e-newsletter. 

Cast your film with the headshot book

We have a number of three-ring binders in the IFP Phoenix Library of local actors and actresses.  You can come down to the office during normal business hours (currently M-Th 10-6 and F 10-3) and browse through them.  Please call first to make sure that the office is staffed.

Find your crew and cast with the e-Newsletter

Members can place a free classified ads in our weekly newsletter.  Submit Member News Online by Monday of each week for inclusion in Tuesday’s release.

Learn Your Craft

Monthly panel discussions, seminars and workshops

IFP/PHX offers monthly seminars with varying topics.  Members receive discounted ticket prices.  The panel discussions are usually $10 for members and workshops range in price from $30-$300, depending on the workshop (again, with discounted member pricing).  Tickets are sold for each workshop separately through Brown Paper Tickets.

Intensive workshops

In the past we have run intensive workshops from Hollywood professionals including Stu Pollard, Bill Grundfest, and Alan Arkin.  Members received significant discounts on these premium workshops.  If you have suggestions for future sessions, please e-mail our Educational Director Joe Gruberman or call 602.955.6444.

Middle and High School Educational Seminars and Workshops

IFP/PHX currently offers programs for students twice a year: during the Phoenix Film Festival in the spring, and for 2 sessions in the fall.  Contact, Jennifer Pfalzgraff or watch the website for details.  Members get discount pricing on these sessions.

Production Opportunities

 IFP/PHX is occasionally looking for volunteers, interns and crew for productions.  Contact, Webb Pickersgill, with a cover letter and resume.

Networking

Screenwriters' Group

The IFP/PHX Screenwriters Group strives to provide a creative, supportive and fun environment for local screenwriters to interact, learn and develop their craft.

Monthly Meetings: Come, meet, and support screenwriters through this monthly networking meeting. Gain information about industry contacts, tools of the trade, conferences, and screenplay competitions. Monthly speakers. Held the fourth Thursday of every month from 7-9:00 pm at the IFP Phoenix offices.  Members receive free drinks and can participate in the monthly raffle.

Annual It’s A Wrap Gala in December

Each December. IFP/PHX hosts the annual “It’s A Wrap Gala,” celebrating the year in Arizona film.  A silent auction, music, food, networking and door prizes are a part of this annual event.  Admission is FREE for all members.

Free or discounted IFP/PHX mixers/events

We have events more than once a month between seminars, workshops, mixers and awards ceremonies.  The website contains updated dates and information.

Member News in Weekly e-Newsletter

Every newsletter contains Member News.  This is a great place to list your projects in any stage, screenings, press, cast/crew needs, or other information.  Submit Member News Online.  This is FREE and available to Members Only!

Member Demo Reel Showcase

Members may submit a demo reel of their work for inclusion in the Member Demo Reel Showcase.  Reels are shown at all networking events and one member per month will be showcased online and in the newsletter.  This is FREE and available to Members Only!  Demo Reel Submission is available under the “Members Only” section of our website.

Volunteer

Volunteering with IFP/PHX is a terrific way to get to know others in the community.  There is a need for office/clerical volunteers during the weekdays and event help on weeknights and weekends. Email Us or call the office at 602.955.6444 if you would like to help out.[/learn_more]

Phoenix Film Society Screenings

IFP Phoenix and Phoenix Film Society members are invited to attend every Society screening for free!  RSVP to the office, Phoenix Film Society or 602.955.6444 with your full name, contact number and membership number.  You may purchase additional tickets for guests through the office ahead of time (until 12 noon the day of the screening) for $10.00/each. Please arrive early.  Most screenings are at Valley Harkins locations.  Check the website or e-mail with specific location and extra ticket purchase link.

Insider Screenings

We also encourage you to join the Insider newsletter Phoenix Film Society for chances at additional screenings.  These insider screenings are open to anyone on the e-mail list.  When you receive an e-mail about the screening, you reply for a CHANCE.  If you are randomly selected, the office will e-mail you to let you know. Seating is never guaranteed, so arrive early if you are selected.

Free and Discounted Film Festival Passes

In March, we’ll send out a mailing with instructions on how to redeem your pass to the Phoenix Film Festival or how to upgrade; your pass level depends on your membership level.  Membership also gives you discounted passes to International Horror/Sci-Fi Film Festival and the Arizona Student Film Festival
