I just now noticed the Thespian group, and am proud to be a member. I've been doing films since 1993, the most well known movie being Tombstone.

OK here is my intro to everyone. I have just joined the IFP in hopes of meeting with and getting involved in the film community in AZ and PHX in particular. I have been writing (for fun) most of my life and I am currently working on my first screenplay. I have written/produced/acted/directed/edited a couple of shorts (while a film student). Spent years away from this game - but just keep feeling the pull back. I look forward to any advice or help that anyone might be able to provide. Thanx a million

Actors - make sure you attend the 48-Hour FIlm Challenge kick-off in order to get on a team!

Welcome to the 2008 Phoenix Film Foundation's 48 Hour Film Challenge

Here's all the good stuff you'll need for this year's competition……….

Kick-Off Party, Friday, July 18th at 5:30pm

This year's kick-off party will take place on Friday, July 18th starting at 5:30pm at the Phoenix Film Foundation's offices at the Phoenix Film Center. The address is 1700 N 7th Ave. The party will be held in the theatre on the first floor of the building. There's plenty of free parking in the underground garage.

Obviously, all teams will need to attend the evening to find out their genre, the prop to be used and the line of dialogue to be used. Don't forget that the line of dialogue must be spoken by a character on screen and the prop will need to be handled by a character on screen. Films will also need to be no longer than 3 minutes long including credits.

We'll have snacks and drinks available for purchase that evening as well as a big networking opportunity for people looking for more team members.

We'll do the big sendoff from the theatre on the first floor before 7:00pm.

Can I use SAG talent?

Sure. Just complete the attached forms and turn them into the Phoenix Film Foundation. We will then forward them to SAG at the end of the competition.

Turning in your film

On Sunday, July 20th starting at 5:00pm you'll be able to start turning in your films at our office preferably on mini-dv although we can also accept DVD. The films will be due 48 Hours from Friday's kick-off time. Our office is located at the same place as the kick-off but on the second floor in suite 250.

I've also attached the form you'll need to turn in with your film with the details on who did what on your project.

Tickets

Tickets will go on sale online over the weekend for the July 31st screening and awards event. Each team participating will receive two comp tickets on Sunday when the films are turned in. You'll also be able to purchase tickets in person starting that Sunday. Keep in mind there will be only one screening and tickets will go fast. This event has sold out the previous four years.

Screening and Awards Event

The screening and awards event will take place on Thursday, July 31st at 7:00pm at Harkins Scottsdale/101 Theatre. We will screen all of the completed films and the awards will be presented following the screening.

Afterwards join us at Buffalo Wild Wings for a drink and the announcement of the Wild Card Winner as determined by the audience.
