And you thought you were done… REWRITES!
On January 19th, the IFP Phoenix Screenwriters Group welcomes writer/director/producer Jon Bonnell to speak about the process of working with the director/producer on re-writes.
So you’ve optioned/sold your screenplay, congratulations! However, you aren’t quite done yet. Now the work begins! This is a collaborative business and its time to collaborate with producer and director to help facilitate the re-write process. Reasons could be anything from creative choices wanted by the director, business needs from the producer, or even requirements by the distributor. In any case, there will be changes to be made, and as the writer you’ll want to make sure they are done right. We’ll discuss how to survive this process and see it through to the end, because if you don’t they might just hand it off to someone else to write.
