Writing for Television with Brian Samuel Davis
On September 15, the IFP Phoenix Screenwriters Group welcomes professional screenwriter and professor Brian Samuel Davis, to give us insight to writing for comedic and dramatic television.
If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to write for television, Brian can tell you. His presentation will cover the basics of TV writing and a discussion on how to write a spec script for a 30 minute comedy as well as a 1 hour drama. He will also cover the process of writing a pilot and constructing a bible for a 30 minute comedy and a 1 hour drama. Brian will also be sharing his experiences in the Writer’s Room and the challenges of the group nature of TV writing.

About Brian Samuel Davis
Brian Samuel Davis is currently a professor of Communication and Film Humanities at Scottsdale Community College. Professor Davis studied Screenwriting and Television writing at the University of Southern California where he received a Master of Fine Arts. In 2008, the independent film Ornaments (which is available on Netflix streaming) was released, which Brian wrote, directed, co-financed, and acted in. Finally, Brian was a staff writer on the AXN television show The Kitchen Musical, which premieres throughout Asia in October of 2011.
