Phoenix-based filmmaker Bob Marquis has created a clever, original book trailer for the upcoming humorous how-to manual “Raising Unicorns: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Starting and Running a Successful – and Magical! – Unicorn Farm!” (Adams Media, 2011).
“It’s an imaginative twist on an imaginative book,” he remarks.
Both the book and the script of its trailer were written by his wife, Jessica S. Marquis, and feature the on-screen talent of Phoenix actors Amy Carpenter, Clif Highfield, and IFP Phoenix Member, James Leatherman. Bob Marquis produced, directed, and edited the book trailer, currently displayed on Amazon.com and YouTube.
Many Wrong Ways: A Raising Unicorns book trailer
Bob and Jessica have collaborated under the name “Sailbear” on several film projects in the Phoenix area, the most recognizable being the modern-day fairy tale “An Uplifting Tale“, chosen by Screenvision to show as part of pre-screening entertainment a variety of Harkins Theaters locations in the Fall of 2010. This book trailer is a slight deviation from the Marquis duo’s standard entertainment format, but still bears their indelible mark of creativity.
The filmmaking team hopes for a positive response to the book trailer, as all proceeds they earn from the book project will go toward their Arizona-based nonprofit (501(c)(3) pending), Sailbear Labs, assisting kids in exploring creative writing and filmmaking.
